Healing Hands Network uses complementary therapies to help traumatised victims of war and disaster to rebuild their lives

Why Healing Hands needs your Helping Hands

You can lend a helping hand by volunteering

Healing Hands Network pioneered its work in Sarajevo, Bosnia. Although Sarajevo is no longer much featured in the media, we are determined to stay involved. The ravages of rape, torture, the disappearance of loved ones and extensive landmines have taken a huge toll. Rebuilding is under way but the physiological and psychological scars take longer to heal.

HOW

These people hold their grief and anguish with so much courage. It seems that many have stomach problems from years of fear and food deprivation. I learnt so much from the two weeks I was there.

we have been sending two therapists a week from April to October since 1997, and have now treated over 12,000 people. Fully qualified and experienced practitioners in all the complementary therapies, such as massage, reflexology, aromatherapy, acupuncture and reiki, are needed to continue this type of work.

You can lend a helping hand by supporting members help both at home and abroad:

* with fundraising

* with publicity

I am in no doubt about the value of the work being undertaken by the Healing Hands Network in Sarajevo. It is wonderful to be given the opportunity to engage in therapeutic work of this kind in a safe and professional way……….

You can lend a helping hand by making a donation or sponsoring one of our therapists

We need financial help. Fund raising is a constant need. The charity depends entirely on voluntary funding and support. Volunteer therapists must each raise about £800 to cover their two-week stay in Sarajevo, which goes some way towards meeting the costs of airfares and running the house and therapy centre. But of course more money is always needed.

Our unique organisation needs your help in all sorts of ways. Whatever your skills, whatever your contribution, you can make a difference. Will you give us a helping hand ... or two?
